July 13, 2007 For Immediate Release: “2007 - 1 Million Dollars in Donations”
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – NASCAR driver John Andretti is set to again help out Riley Hospital for Children. This marks the 11th year John has committed himself to helping raise money to support the wonderful work done at Riley. This year the Kroger Race for Riley presented by Cheerios should surpass the $1,000,000 mark in total donations presented to Riley Hospital for Children. But it takes the help of everyone to make this happen. All Kroger-owned stores in Indiana are participating in an in-store promotion allowing customers to make donations to Riley Hospital. For every $1.00 donation, customers receive $4.00 in coupons good on various General Mills products. The in-store promotion will run through August 4th. The total amount expected to be donated to Riley by Kroger and Cheerios this year is over $100,000. The Kroger Race for Riley, presented by Cheerios, will take place on Wednesday, July 25th from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at the New Castle Motorsports Park. The event is open to the public and everyone attending can enjoy food, radio controlled racing, and get autographs from other NASCAR, IRL and NHRA drivers.
The action on the track will feature individuals who have made a $50 donation to Riley Hospital for Children and will race in various heats, with the winners having the opportunity to race against John Andretti. Those who have made a sponsor donation of $250 will automatically race against John. “This is such a great day and I’m excited to have Kroger and Cheerios involved as the event sponsors,” said Andretti. “Riley Hospital for Children holds a special place in my heart and there’s nothing better than seeing people come together for a good cause.” “Kroger is thrilled to sponsor John Andretti’s efforts to raise money for Riley Hospital for Children,” said Bob Moeder, President of Kroger Central Marketing Area. “We have a long-standing tradition of community giving and are committed to Riley Hospital and the great work they do for our children. Our partnership with Cheerios makes this event an even stronger one.” “We’re proud to partner with Kroger in support of such a worthy cause,” said Cheerios Motorsports Marketing Manager Alison Miller. “We’re excited to participate in our 11th year of Race for Riley. Cheerios is committed to nourishing families, we’re delighted to celebrate the great work being done by the skilled teams at Riley Hospital to support families.” Individuals may still register on-line at www.race4riley.com
