NASCAR driver John Andretti has been raising money for Riley Hospital for Children for 11 years, and organizers expect that after Wednesday's Kroger Race for Riley, the donations he's helped make to the hospital will reach $1 million. The first fundraiser, which brought in $4,000, started when WIBC-AM (1070) radio host Dave Wilson and Andretti cooked up the idea for a kart challenge, according to spokesman Rick Posson. Since then, the outing has attracted some major corporate sponsors and big-name supporters. Driver Tony Stewart is pitching in again this year and will make an appearance at the race at New Castle Motorsports Park from 2 to 4 p.m. He'll sign free autographs for 200 fans who manage to snag one of the autograph vouchers. Eighty other folks can guarantee themselves an autograph and a private meet-and-greet with Stewart by making a $75 donation to Riley. Though it doesn't cost anything to attend the Race for Riley, set for 2 to 7 p.m., donations are welcome. If you want to participate in the race yourself, you will have to fork over some cash for the cause. Another way to contribute is by attending tonight's progressive dinner, which costs $100 per person and features food from a number of local restaurants.
